You can spend hundreds of hours putting together a fantastic web video, but one of the most important aspects of having your work viewed and spread lies in the way that you title, tag, and describe your video. Felicia Williams, Director of Community Programming at Next New Networks, will lead a workshop on the importance of metadata in web video.

Greetings! We are on for the videoblogging Meetup tomorrow on Thursday, March 5, 2009 from 7pm - 8pm at the Rocketboom studio on La Fayette Street. Please join us as we kick off the monthly series with a discussion around the economy and the effects it's having on the medium. What are the consequences of a crashed economy during this important transitional time in media? What can we expect to see this year or next as a result? What are some of the biggest problems we may encounter and what kinds of solutions have been considered? Discussion begins promptly at 7pm. We have a great list of speakers and events in the works so stay tuned for the first Thursday of every month!

The NYC Videoblogging Meetups are back! For the year of 2009, this open group will meet on the first Thursday of each month beginning Thursday February 5th at 7pm. This February meeting will be informal and may not have all organizers present but remains on the agenda for any enthusiasts who might like to meet up over a drink. Meet in the very back of the bar. In the first week or two of February, we will announce a line up of Guest Speakers as the series for 2009 kicks in gear with the March 5th meet-up. Thanks for hanging in there, we will be bringing in some guests doing awesome work in the field, starting in March.

Greetings! On Tuesday August 12th at 7pm the NYC Videoblogging Meetup will host Kathleen Grace and Thom Woodley of Dinosaur Diorama, the production team behind the videoblog series, The All for Nots. The All-For-Nots is a scripted web docu-comedy covering the band's tour across the US. Each week's 2-3 episodes are released every Monday and correspond to a city on their cross-country tour. The show is distributed over IP (website, v-cast, etc.) and cable/satellite (HDNet). Everyone in attendance will have a minute to introduce themselves and their projects and then we will hear from our special guests. Kathleen and Thom will talk about how making web series is different than vlogging and how to produce a scripted, narrative series with no money. Afterward, we will have a Q&A session, and move over to Two Eighteen, a bar across the street located at 218 Lafayette. Hope to see ya there!

Brad O'Farrell had to cancel last minute this afternoon. After two cancelations this month, we decided to take a hint and not do anything more to piss off the rain gods. Thus, we will take a sabatical this month and resume again next month, info TBD. Also, are you getting a little anxious about how many emails you get from this Meetup group? Rest assured, we are taking measures to improve the experience on that end as well. Lastly, we have pretty much outgrown the ROcketboom studio so please let us know if you have any good ideas for a future locale. Stay tuned, but not too much, Andrew

Human's Take: "Consistently funny," Scheer says. "It just goes to show, you don't need a big budget to make hilarious shorts." Everyone that attends the meet-up is invited to give a 2min introduction, then we will hear from the special guests and then we can engage in discussion for the rest of the eve. Please RSVP with number of guests - must be on the list to get up to the studio. Cheers, Andrew
